Hormones, stress, diet or improper skin care can cause blemishes unless you are blessed with issue-free skin and your life is perfectly balanced… lucky you.
Unfortunately, this is not the case for most of us.
For me, stress and poor diet are the most common causes of breakouts.
Of course, I could counteract stress and watch my diet, but let’s face it, it’s just not as easy as it seems. We live in a working society where you are expected to do your job without complaining and overworking hours are common. Most superiors rarely care about the workload and mental health of the employees.
Stress and the stress hormones it produces have many negative consequences and you should not always take them in a light-hearted manner.
Then let’s get to the business. Often it’s just too late and the blemishes start to appear little by little.
In this case, I have a few lifesavers in my skincare that I can always rely on.
Gentle Cleanser
Washing your face to keep it clean and not give bacteria the chance to spread is very important. For someone with sensitive skin, it can be too much with usual cleansers, therefore a gentle and non-drying one is a must.
You can use a gentle cleanser that does not dry out the skin twice a day.
Gentle Exfoliants
Instead of applying chemical peels to the entire face and therefore sensitising my skin even more, I prefer to apply a mild chemical peel only as a spot treatment.
My favourite is ROVECTIN Clean LHA Blemish Ampoule, a gentle form of BHA that helps against inflammation so that the pimple swells up and heals faster.
Pimple Patches
This is where you can choose the pimple patches according to your preference, I like the ByWishtrend Clear Skin Shield patches as they are thin and good for everyday wear but still effective.
The patches help the blemishes to mature/heal faster and keep bacteria and your fingers away if you are like me and always unconsciously touch and scratch the pimples up.
It’s important to apply the patches to dry skin directly after cleansing, before starting your skincare routine.
Propolis Serums / Essences
Propolis is a by-product of bees’ work and is not to be confused with honey.
My grandmother has been making different medicinal ointments and essences for external use since I was a child, so I am familiar with the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of it. So it also stands to reason that this is a must in my skincare routine.
Whenever my skin is freaking out propolis serums and essences become a regular part of my skincare routine again.
At the time being, it’s a serum from IUNIK and a ByWishtrend essence but COSRX and Beauty of Joseon also have popular serums.
No Skincare experiments
If your skin is feeling rough again, you should stick to the skincare routine you know, which works and is a no-brainer for you.
Keep it simple and leave out unnecessary products that can irritate your skin.
These are the tips and products I use to get rid of pimples, but what works for me might not work for you. Also, you should keep in mind that I do not suffer from severe acne, but rather some blemishes that occur for the reasons mentioned above and also hormonal acne before my period.
Also, with all ingredients and products, you should always get several opinions and take a closer look at the ingredients and their effects.
Don’t waste your money on products which are not meant to be used on your skin type.
